The Warrior Fund
"Innocent Until Proven Guilty". That is a fundamental under pinning of the American Justice System. It applies to civilian courts and should apply to military courts.
The harsh truth is that in a Military court, the military defendant is "presumed guilty" and must prove his or her innocence. The government has literally unlimited resources to prosecute any member of our Armed Forces...and they use these resources to their fullest extent.
On the other hand - even though the law requires the military to appoint a military defense attorney from the JAG (Judge Advocates Corps) the appointed JAG defensive attorney is at the mercy of the government. Often times, the JAG defense attorney has little to no actual military trial experience.
And it is no secret that many JAG defense attorneys must be very cautious or else his/her own career might be in jeopardy.
Many former JAG's leave the military and take up private practice to defend military members. For the most part, they know the "system" and are keenly aware of the deceptive (if not downright illegal) practices by the various services investigative agencies such as the NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) and the CID (the Army's Criminal Investigative Division) which is the Department of Defense's premier investigative organization.
The bottom line is that, in order to obtain an effective defense team, literally every military defendant and his or her family must hire a civilian attorney. Many families take out first and even second mortgages on their homes, borrow money from other family members and end up in debt that they could not possibly ever pay.
Among the legal expenses and fees incurred by these families are:
- The Defense Attorney teams,
- Investigations,
- Expert Witnesses,
- Forensics Analysis's,
- Documentations,
- ...and the list goes on.
That is why United American Patriots established our "Defend our Defenders" WARRIOR FUND.
Utilizing as many fund raising avenues that we can think of, we raise money to help defray the enormous costs for an adequate legal defense. Our "overhead" is kept to less than 25%! We can think of no other non-profit organization that can make that claim.
United American Patriots manages this Warrior Fund very closely. We have a Certified Public Accountant who oversees this Fund and how the money is disbursed.
Unlike many web-based initiatives to raise money for purposes like this, we have very little overhead thus more than 75% of every dollar received goes directly into this Fund for its stated purposes.
We take this fiduciary responsibility very seriously and our Troops need your support.
