“Innocent until Proven Guilty” is a fundamental under pinning of the American Justice System that applies in civilian courts and should, but does not apply in military courts.
The harsh truth is that in a Military court, the military defendant is “presumed guilty” and must prove his or her innocence. The government has unlimited resources to prosecute any member of our Armed Forces and they use these resources to the fullest extent.
On the other hand, the law requires the military appoint a military defense attorney from the JAG (Judge Advocates Corps). The appointed JAG defensive attorney is at the mercy of the government, usually having little to no actual military trial experience.
Many JAG’s leave the military and take up private practice to defend military members. They know the “system” and are keenly aware of the deceptive practices by the various investigative agencies such as the NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) and the Department of Defense’s premier investigative organization the Army’s CID (Criminal Investigative Division).
In order to obtain an effective defense team, almost every military defendant and his or her family must hire a civilian attorney. Many families are forced to take out mortgages on their homes, borrow money from other family members and end up in debt that they could not possibly ever repay. This is why United American Patriots established the WARRIOR FUND.
Costly legal expenses and fees can include, but are not limited to:
1.Teams of Defense Attorneys.
Utilizing many fund raising opportunities, we raise money to help defray the enormous costs for an adequate and fair legal defense. Our “overhead” is kept to less than 25%! A certified Public Accountant oversees this Fund and how all money is disbursed.
We take this fiduciary responsibility very seriously and our Troops need your support.
Please read up on what injustices are happening to our troops and to keep current on updates on the various cases. Those that we are currently supporting are listed on our homepage.
